Road To The Last Jedi: The Last Jedi Review Spoiler Free

Just a quick note before we get started. I am going to see it a second time sometime this week and will release a spoiler review after I see it again. But for now enjoy the spoiler free review. I also will not be including the trailer because I still think its best if you go in blind for this one.

Star Wars The Last Jedi takes place directly after The Force Awakens and follows Rey as she tries to convince Luke Skywalker to rejoin the rebellion. that’s about all I’m going to say plot wise because a lot of people still haven’t seen it and I would hate to spoil the movie because it was a genuine treat as a massive Star Wars fan. There’s a line in the trailer where Luke says “This is nor going to go the way you think”, and that about sums up the movie. almost every scene went in a different direction then I thought it would, and I mean that in the best way possible. The movie goes out of its way to surprise you and does so in satisfying fashion. For those worried that this would be a carbon copy of The Empire Strikes Back you can breath a sigh of relief because this is the most original Star Wars since The Empire Strikes Back, and that’s high praise coming from me because The Empire Strikes Back is one of my favorite movies.

But that doesn’t mean this movie was without its faults, which for me there’s only one, Which is that the Finn story line could feel a bit goofy at times but Finn ultimately is a goofy character (I mean that in a good way, seriously John Boyega is hilarious in this movie) so in the end it suits him but it still left me a little jarred. The only other thing I’ll say is that most Star Wars movies utilize practical effects which there are considerably less of in this movie but seeing as the CGI effects were phenomenal I’ll forgive it.

One thing I’ll praise this movie to high hell for is just how satisfying the character development was. Almost every character you cared about got their moment in the spotlight, while still leaving room for episode 9.

To conclude I can easily say this is the best Star Wars since The Empire Strikes Back. It’s unpredictable, funny (probably the funniest Star Wars)  and full of great character moments. This is by far one of my favorite Star Wars movies and one I look forward to watching again and again and again.

I rate The Last Jedi an A+ or 9.9
